Biosketch:
Fred Monroe Gottheil was a professor in the Illinois Department of Economics. He held a B.A. in economics from McGill University and a masters and Ph.D from Duke University. He taught the introductory economic lecture course, a history of economic thought course, Marxian economics, and the Israeli economy. Research focuses were the economics of the Middle East.
He won numerous awards for his teaching, including: Top Professor Award, Daily Illini (1998 and 1999); Excellence in Teaching, College of Business (1998); Excellence in Teaching, Freshmen (1997), Alpha Delta Lambda; Outstanding Professor in Economics (1996 and 1997); Outstanding Professor Award, Dad’s Day Association.
