Biosketch:
Max Judd Wasserman came to the University of Illinois as a graduate student in 1919, after completing his B.A. degree at Cornell. He would be awarded his M.A. degree in 1921.
From 1923 to 1925, he was a fellow at the University of Lyons, France. In 1925, he would return to Illinois, accepting an appointment as Assistant Professor of Economics. He would teach at Illinois for 8 years, making his courses in Economic History among the most popular in the department.
In 1929, Professor Wasserman would be promoted to Associate Professor, teaching graduate coursework. He would serve in such capacity until his resignation in 1933, when he would assume the office of Director of the Finance Division of the Resettlement Administration in Washington, D.C.
