MSPE students have the opportunity to attend several social events (including picnics, special luncheons, holiday parties, and graduation dinners) throughout the year. These events provide the students with the chance to get to know their fellow classmates, professors, and MSPE staff on a more informal basis.
Students will receive an email invitation to all upcoming events. A list of all social occasions can be found on the Upcoming Events page.
The annual MSPE picnic took place on September 7th at Lake of the Woods in Mahomet. The weather was absolutely perfect for this year's picnic! All enjoyed a great meal, plenty of time to chat and get to know each other, and to show off their athletic skills playing soccer, volleyball, badminton, ping pong, and yard games. Others chose a more leisurely activity such as card games or board games.
The annual MSPE picnic took place on September 8th at Lake of the Woods in Mahomet. Although the cold and rainy weather confined us to the inside of the pavilion, it did not “dampen” the day as all enjoyed a great meal, plenty of time to chat and get to know each other, and to play board games. The MSPE staff attempted to learn how to play Mahjong, a tile-based game that was developed in China during the Qing dynasty. The staff definitely could use more practice!
MSPE students, staff, and a few departmental faculty attended the annual Thanksgiving luncheon on November 16. Guests feasted on the customary turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, cranberry relish, and the like. It was not possible for anyone to leave hungry!
The Alice Campbell Alumni Center was the location of the annual MSPE holiday party on December 21. Over 175 guests enjoyed the cocktail hour and sit-down dinner. During dinner, guests enjoyed the holiday-themed music selected by several of the MSPE students.
The semester concluded with a graduation dinner held at the I Hotel and Conference Center. The 28 graduating students represented seven different countries.
